Ways to Combat the Back-to-School Scaries
Multi-unit owner Kama Friedman joins WPHL Philadelphia to talk about the summer learning loss and ways for parents to beat the “Back-to-School Scaries.”
Jennifer Jeffery, Center Director of Mathnasium in Elmhurst, explains the "summer slide," a phenomenon where students lose some of the math skills and knowledge they gained during the school year due to a lack of academic engagement over the summer break. She noted that this learning loss can set students back, making it harder for them to transition smoothly when school resumes.
To combat the summer slide, Jennifer suggests a few activities for parents to help their kids not only retain what they've learned but also broaden their horizons before school starts. Learn more by watching this video, which covers these strategies in detail, how Mathnasium helps students build confidence for the new school year, and our exciting partnership with Jagger Eaton.
