Just as you should read with your child, you should “math” with them as well, using natural language that makes sense to a child. Doing math with your child is a great way to interact with them and help them learn about our world.
Today’s parent tip for “mathing” with your child focuses on money. Money is something that children are naturally motivated to learn about. Counting coins into banks is a part of everyone’s childhood. Parents can assist children in learning the names of coins and their values in cents. Talk about value and size separately, as some coins that are bigger in size are smaller in value.
