Your Student Will Be Well-Prepared

Mathnasium's maths test tutoring instructors work with students individually to help them understand the maths concepts they'll face on the 11+, ISEB exams and other entrance tests. This is the only way to achieve maths mastery and get the results they want. We will help your child be prepared with strong subject knowledge, rigorous problem solving and exam familiarisation.

In just a few months our son was able to master his algebra issues and raise his standardised test score beyond his expectations!

Frequently Asked Questions

Contact your local Mathnasium Learning Centre with any questions you may have about our 11+ test prep tutoring. Here are some of the more common ones we get:

  • How can I increase my child's 11+ mark?

One of the best ways you can help your child improve their test scores is by providing plenty of support and encouragement in all the right ways. Encourage them to ask questions, revisit topics they find challenging and team up with Mathnasium!

Our 11+ prep sessions provide preparation and progress without the pressure.

  • How can I help my child be a better test taker?

There are three things you can do to help your child be a better test taker. First, you can encourage them to begin studying well in advance rather than cramming the night before. Also, make sure they get plenty of sleep to refresh and recharge their brain for the exam.

Finally, give them every advantage with our test prep programme. Our proven instruction methods can help your child achieve their best test scores by building their understanding and applying their skills in unfamiliar contexts.

  • How can I help my child prepare for entrance exams at home?

Maths test prep at home begins with a solid foundation in maths concepts learned in the classroom, reinforced by maths test tutoring and supported at home. Encourage your child to problem solve or teach you a topic to reinforce their understanding. Play mental maths games and solve number puzzles.

  • How can I support my child when it comes to the exam itself?

Being well prepared for an exam means you should get a good night’s sleep, ensure you have all the equipment you need and have a hearty breakfast before setting off in good time to be ready without any panic. Reassure your child that they’ve worked hard and that you will be proud of them whatever the outcome.

  • What happens during the initial assessment at Mathnasium?

At Mathnasium, we understand that assessments can sometimes feel stressful for students. That’s why we take a personalised and engaging approach to each assessment. We start by building rapport with your child, giving them a short centre tour, and getting to know them.

We conduct both a verbal and written assessment to identify your child’s strengths and areas for improvement as well as to gain a true understanding of how each student approaches and thinks about maths. More importantly, our assessments don’t feel like a test – we will interact with your student, encourage them and celebrate their work.

  • How often will my child take assessments at Mathnasium?

At Mathnasium, we use assessments to track your child’s progress towards their goals and make sure they are on the right path to maths success.

We typically start with an assessment at the beginning of their programme and follow up periodically to keep track of how they’re doing, assess retention of skills and move on to new topics. We work with your child to determine the right frequency for their assessments based on their individual needs and goals.

  • How do you help my child be ready for their exam?

Having begun by focusing on a student’s individual learning gaps, we ensure all students have opportunities for rigorous problem-solving and mixed practice. Our proprietary materials encourage students to make links between topics and apply their understanding in unfamiliar contexts. Finally, we make use of baseline papers and as we move closer to the exams tackle exam-style questions with in-session feedback to maximise progress and build confidence ahead of their test date.
