Our instructors use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that combines personalised learning plans with mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques to build maths knowledge level by level.
This method ensures that each student receives tailored instruction that meets their unique needs and learning styles. By focusing on understanding fundamental concepts and developing critical thinking skills, our approach helps students build a strong mathematical foundation.
Our dedicated and specially trained maths tutors offer personalised face-to-face instruction in a supportive and engaging environment. We work with students of all skill levels, both in-centre and online, to help them achieve maths mastery.
Discover how Mathnasium helped Malachi become more confident in math.

Martin Heaton Cooper
Centre Director & Owner
Alizay
Centre Manager
Alizay began working at Mathnasium of Crouch End when it first opened in 2018 as a Maths Instructor. She then went on to study Psychology at the University of Warwick, where she developed a strong interest in Developmental Psychology and Educational Psychology. After graduating in 2022, she moved on to study Clinical Neuroscience at UCL where she worked in a lab researching neural connections in epilepsy. Throughout her studies, Alizay continued to work part time as a Maths Instructor, teaching online and returning to the Centre during university holidays. In 2023, she returned full-time to Mathnasium Muswell Hill, and was promoted to Assistant Manager. She was very pleased to start as Centre Manager for Crouch End at the beginning of 2025, bringing with her a range of experience in both education and neuroscience.
Nazzia
Assistant Manager
Milly
Head of Education
Milly studied Animal Science and worked as a vet nurse for 2 years, but she has always loved Maths and thinks that it is the foundation of all knowledge and all life. In her spare time, she plays the piano, paints, and reads books about Maths & Mathematicians through the ages. Before working at Mathnasium, Milly spent a year in South Africa caring for injured wildlife but eventually wanted a more challenging and mentally stimulating occupation. She finds teaching children really rewarding and loves to see them developing a true understanding & enjoyment of Maths.
Paniz
Head of Instructors
Paniz is a Maths postgrad who stumbled into a career as a translator following the completion of her Masters. She serendipitously stumbled upon Mathnasium while needing a change and has relished the focus back on Maths. She finds satisfaction in the linear logic and concrete solutions, but also the creativity available in higher mathematics, all codifying universal truths and serving as the ultimate language. She has found getting to know the students extremely enriching and is committed to helping them increase their ease, enthusiasm and achievement in maths.
Claudia
Lead Instructor
Claudia attended university in Italy and has a degree in Political Economics. She moved to London in 2020 from Rome where she grew up and started working right away. She started out as a special educational needs teaching assistant at Parliament Hill school for three years and really enjoys working in education. Claudia also loves the pragmatism of mathematics and scientific disciplines so Mathnasium is the perfect place to combine the two things. Being able to help kids learn and understand maths is very rewarding because she believes that the skills acquired here can be useful for many other aspects of life.
Can
Lead Instructor
Can is about to start his second year of A-Levels studying Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry and hopes to either pursue a degree in Chemistry or a joint Maths Computer Science degree. His favourite parts about Maths are difficult trigonometry and algebra. In his spare time, he enjoys going to the park and spending time with friends. He hopes to move out of London for university, aspiring for Oxford.
Whether they would like to attend sessions in-centre or online, students can take 3 easy steps to enrol at Mathnasium.
All students begin their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints what they already know and what they still need to learn.
FAQ
Our caring, specially trained tutors work with primary and secondary school students of all skill levels looking to learn and master any maths up to Higher Tier GCSE Maths or National 5 Qualifications.
Yes, our students can attend Mathnasium at our centre or log into live, face-to-face sessions with their tutor.
Each student is given a diagnostic assessment that pinpoints their strengths, knowledge gaps, and unique goals, so that we can create a personalised learning plan that will put them on the best path to maths mastery.
Unlike a maths class, Mathnasium teaches to the individual. Our expert instructors provide face-to-face instruction at the right pace for each student.
We use the Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach which combines personalised learning plans with proven techniques to build maths knowledge upon what students already know, so they're able to retain what they learn and gain confidence along the way.
We empower students of all skill levels to excel in maths, whether they are looking to catch up, keep up, or get ahead on their maths journey.
We work with advanced students to expand their maths skills and help them achieve their greatest potential. At Mathnasium, advanced students can explore the subjects beyond their school’s maths curriculum and receive personalised support to achieve their unique academic goals.
If a student is struggling or simply looking to keep up in their maths class, Mathnasium will build upon what they already know, addressing their learning gaps and teaching maths in a way that makes sense to them.
Mathnasium provides premium value by combining a superior learning experience with an efficient structure that keeps costs low. There is a flat enrolment fee for our programme, and students attend regularly—much like a gym membership. We recommend that they attend Mathnasium 2-3 times per week as attending less frequently will slow results and attending too often could lead to student burnout. Pricing varies by programme and geographic area. Contact our centre for more details on enrolment packages.
